I am a certified Therapeutic Play Specialist (through The Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy) with 13 years experience of working with individual children, groups and parents from a range of backgrounds within Schools, Early Years and a Sure Start family setting (6 years in a therapeutic capacity). In recent years I have experienced the challenges and rewards of working with children who are in the care of the local authority, offering them a therapeutic environment in which to acknowledge, express and work through difficult feelings and develop positive relationships.
It is of great importance to me that I continue the journey to further my knowledge and skills as this will enable me to offer individuals a wide range of experiences and optimum support. My ongoing professional development includes work relating to attachment strategies, sand play therapy. supporting positive interactions between parent/carer and child and Safeguarding.
Building a respectful and trusting relationship with my clients and their families is key and so confidentiality plays an important role in the work I undertake.
I work under the ethical framework of Play therapy UK, am registered with the Information Commissioners Office and am listed on the Accredited Register of Play and Creative Arts Therapists – validated by the Professional Standards Authority.
I am DBS certified and insured for Public Liability
